Saddam Hussein

With a soul contract, I doubt whether it makes a difference if one of the parties to the contract chooses to work from the ‘other side.’ In fact, when the mission they agreed to fulfill during their incarnations gets into a very stuck place, it is likely that one party agrees to go over because they feel they can be more effective from that position.

Saddam Hussein died today. He was ignominiously hanged by the neck like the criminal that he was. Interesting, his nemesis, George W. Bush, known to all in America as ‘the great decider,’ has never been so indecisive and stuck as he is at this time.

If these two men were engaged in fulfilling their soul contract to awaken humanity, as I imagine they were, then it looks as though Saddam has indeed decided to work now from the spiritual realm in order to fulfill the mission. Bush, in the meanwhile, will struggle on in this realm.

If you have read my book, A Radical Incarnation, you’ll be familiar with the story developed therein, in which two souls are being prepared for their incarnations by Harley, their Angel of Incarnation. Their joint mission is to heal America and then awaken humanity to itself. One, named Jack, would become President of the U.S., and the other, Eric, would incarnate as a despotic middle-eastern dictator. Between them they would act out a fierce drama on the world stage that would create a worldwide, chaotic breakdown, the purpose of which would be to trigger the mass breakthrough in consciousness required for the awakening.

Written before the Iraq war started, what began as a simple spiritual allegory became the possible explanation for everything that was, and is now, happening in the world. It was, and is, the only logical way to explain the apparent madness of George W. Bush in pursuing this war so obsessively and failing so miserably to win it.

In the story, it was Jack’s role to project onto Eric the American shadow in all its ugliness and arrogance. For centuries, it has been denied, repressed and projected ‘out-there’ onto our perceived enemies. It was to be Eric’s role to be the object of that projection, accept it, and then to mirror it back to America in order that it might be healed.

It’s no great leap to see George Bush and Saddam as these two souls playing this out on the world stage, together with other souls like Cheney, Blair, Rumsfeld and other middle eastern jihadist leaders who, even today, are joining the dance. And the party goes on.

For almost two decades, Saddam has been in America’s face and a thorn in its side. And right up to his last moment ,he was arrogant, defiant, self-righteous, unrepentant, unforgiving, angry and vengeful. Personally responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, he was arguably one of humanity’s worst monsters. He was utterly merciless. But, what a mirror he was for all of us! He showed us exactly what we need to love and accept in ourselves - our own individual shadow and America’s shadow too.

It takes a soul like him to do that for us all. In that sense he is our ‘healing angel.’ So is George Bush because Saddam cannot do it without him. They both are perfect for the job — a marriage made in heaven, perhaps! But now it’s our turn to step up to the plate, for the truth is that it is not up to George W. Bush or any other President to heal America’s shadow. It is up to each one of us. (This is actually the main point in my book and, in there, I give a lot of background to this idea and how we can achieve the goal of creating the breakthrough.’ Click here to order it.)

We have the technology to enable us all to do it, and it is Radical Forgiveness. When I learned of Saddam’s demise by hanging this morning, I decided to do a Radical Forgiveness worksheet on him immediately so I could use the event to heal my own shadow. Click the pictures below to see this worksheet.

In order to heal your own shadow and to contribute to America’s healing, you might want to do one yourself. All you have to do is read it out loud and fill in the blanks. Click here to download one.

I have many different teachers that I use in my life in order to live my life in peace. One such teacher says" If we new what happens after we leave this earth, we would choose differently from our actions to put someone to death. When we pass into the non physical we have entered into a powerful, joyful, loving place. So instead of putting someone to death, it would be a much more demeaning life for them to have let them live. So I say God Bless Saddam Hussein, God Bless George W. Bush. For I ask for nothing less for them then I do for myself. God Bless you Colin Tipping for being Healing presences in the lives of so many.

"What If the Amish Were in Charge of the War on Terror?"
Diana Butler Bass

I confess: Over the last 10 days, I did not pay much attention to the Amish school shooting. As the mother of an 8-year old girl, I find school violence stories too painful to follow.

Despite attempts to avoid this particular news, the stories of the Amish practice of forgiveness eventually captivated me. Their practice of forgiveness unfolded in four public acts over the course of a week. First, some elders visited Marie Roberts, the wife of the murderer, to offer forgiveness. Then, the families of the slain girls invited the widow to their own children’s funerals. Next, they requested that all relief monies intended for Amish families be shared with Roberts and her children. And, finally, in an astonishing act of reconciliation, more than 30 members of the Amish community attended the funeral of the killer.

As my husband and I talked about the spiritual power of these actions, I commented in an offhanded way, “It is an amazing witness to the peace tradition.” He looked at me and said passionately, “Witness? I don’t think so. This went well past witnessing. They weren’t witnessing to anything. They were actively making peace.”

He was right. Their actions not only witness that the Christian God is a God of forgiveness, but they actively created the conditions in which forgiveness could happen. In the most straightforward way, they embarked on imitating Christ: “Father, forgive them; they know not what they do.” In acting as Christ, they did not speculate on forgiveness. They forgave. And forgiveness is, as Christianity teaches, the prerequisite to peace. We forgive because God forgave us; in forgiving, we participate in God’s dream of reconciliation and shalom.

Then an odd thought occurred to me: What if the Amish were in charge of the war on terror? What if, on the evening of Sept. 12, 2001, we had gone to Osama bin Laden’s house (metaphorically, of course, since we didn’t know where he lived!) and offered him forgiveness? What if we had invited the families of the hijackers to the funerals of the victims of 9/11? What if a portion of The September 11th Fund had been dedicated to relieving poverty in a Muslim country? What if we dignified the burial of their dead by our respectful grief?

What if, instead of seeking vengeance, we had stood together in human pain, looking honestly at the shared sin and sadness we suffered? What if we had tried to make peace?

So, here’s my modest proposal. We’re five years too late for an Amish response to 9/11. But maybe we should ask them to take over the Department of Homeland Security. After all, actively practicing forgiveness and making peace are the only real alternatives to perpetual fear and a multi-generational global religious war.

I can’t imagine any other path to true security. And nobody else can figure out what to do to end this insane war. Why not try the Christian practice of forgiveness? If it worked in Lancaster, maybe it will work in Baghdad, too.

Hello Collin,

Today I have felt extreme sadness around the execution of Saddam. I want to thank you for posting the blog and a worksheet. I read your Incarnation book over a year ago, and at the time completed a worksheet. I have had an understanding around GW B's relationship with Saddam, yet, until today, when I completed another worksheet, I did not have the peace that comes with complete understanding. I know that Spirit will allow the continuing relationship to unfold perfectly, so that all of us can heal. Collin, I am grateful to be one of those who has personally met you, and I want to say that you and your lovely wife have blessed, and continue to bless my human existence. Thank you.

It is very symbolic of an era gone and a new one on the rise, to have a tremendous death on all levels of being, human and spiritual...mind, body and soul. Nearly two thousand years ago, man crucified Christ in the name of God for our salvation. Yet will humanity see the symbolism in this “crucifixion”?

When I read Saddam's name I see past the human limitation of seeing only in 3D and move to see that in this man's divinely written and chosen name a SIGN. When you read his name from beginning to end, I see and read SADdam. When you flip it and read it backwards, I see MADdas. To be able to see things on this earth from all sides, one must choose to see for all directions and see the gifts in all that is, past, present and future.

Today I am sad to see that many will not see the gift that is here for all to cherish, and mad to know that the dichotomy of creation lives on...how do we move past the trauma's of the present? It is only with forgiveness, unconditional love and compassion, and that is what Radical Forgiveness can do in times like these.

For that GIFT I thank you Colin for having the strength and courage to aid humanity in it's own healing process.

From a Canadian Sister, whose heart reaches out the all those in the sad and mad state of consciousness...may GOD and Good Orderly Direction be upon all of you. God Bless HUMANITY. We are all one and we are all from LOVE!

Colin, Thank you for bringing this light. I felt conflict within when I heard of the hanging of Saddam. The conflict arises from my opposition to the war, my inability to conceive that a human being coud do the things he did to others, and my own questioning of the right to take the life of another. It was inconceivable for me to allow myself to feel any true emotions surrounding this event: I kept my mind focused on thinking "the right thoughts" and sounding appropriately acceptable in my community. Your freedom to share your forgiveness work on this event has given me freedom and direction. As you shine your light.. you give permission to me to do the same. Thank you.

I appreciate very much your expanded perspective. It is close to my own. A few thoughts, though. Although Hussein was a "mirror", the greater mirror here is Osama Bin Laden. Think America's "Anti Communist Crusade" of the 50's onward. What was covert for so long became overt through the Bush administration. The overthrow of the demoocratically elected regime in Chile in 1973 happened on Tuesday, September 11. The twin towers were attacked on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

Also, Saddam was more than just a mirror. Until he got too big for his britches, he was our ally. We built him up, armed him, actually supplied the money and materials to gas his own people (and the Iranians). Frankenstein run amok. His relationship was very close.

I would have used the mirror analogy for him in 1991. Now I would use Bin Laden. Perhaps nit picking. Both represent what is shadow in America, but Iraq has paid the price for America's Imperial designs.

How do the Iraqi people's contracts enter into this? I believe nations contract also, not sure exactly the dynamics.
Yours,
Ken Kaplan

Colin,
thank you so much for helping me to gain clarity in my thinking and feelings around this major issue, and for putting it all into greater perspective, where it belongs.

I feel much more at peace now, having read your comments, and will feel even more so after doing the worksheet. I'm about to start it now.
Bless you and Joanne,

I spent last night--even in my dream state which was uugghh--and today thinking about how we are all "one" and therefore, Saddam and Bush are both part of the whole. As I imagined his Spirit's journey in the moments following his execution, I thought about that trip and what it would entail. To me, I believe that he must have contracted pre-this life to be of such darkness, in order for us to know the opposite--which would be pure light. I wondered if there was the possibility that because his soul "offered" or agreed to this life, if his next journey would be one of beauty as opposed to karmic going down the ladder due to his darkness. I thought about his soul travelling through a multitude of spiritual layers, a life review, and a sense of peace for having finished his dark journey.
As I get so amazingly angry when I hear Bush say anything and that it is so obvious that Saddam’s execution was planned just before Bush brings on his next plan, I thought of how much blood is on Bush’s hands as well. As I got angry, I realized that I was in his "energy" and thus, being a conduit of the continued darkness with him. I felt I needed to stop reacting in anger but rather, send him love and guidance through spirit.
Only in this moment do I realize that this is what I did with my father... I had to wait until his death before truly having a spiritual forgiveness ritual with his soul, rather than having that ritual before he left. As I saw Hussein, I felt like I saw underneath his skin--he must have been already stepping out of time and space and into the Spirit world or else he would have freaked out at what was happening. Do we ever see anyone walk quietly towards their execution?
And now, for us who are still here--we have a choice--to discover as much as we can about the spiritual dance we have witnessed and "to get up on the dance floor!" With that, may 2007 bring each of us to an awareness of the spiritual dance that occurs simultaneously with the linear dance.
Do I dare say--even to Saddam AND Bush... Namaste?

When I see flags flying at half mast for the natural death of a past US president I also reflect upon the hanging of a former Iraq president whose position of leadership was bolstered by our own government and taxes. We are indeed one interwoven tapestry of humanity. Thank you Colin for your clarifying energies in these times of stretching and shifting consciousness. I am honored to have met you in KC last year. I find hope and joy as I realize there are so many souls moving together along this shifting stream of consciousness toward peace and prosperity for all ... let us continue to learn from one another as we manifest the Kingdom of Heaven here on Earth in 2007.

I have just read through the comments here and feel compellrd to add a comment. I am familiar with "Radical Forgiveness", but I am involved with a group in the UK called "Living the Field", and I think the two tie in.
I tend not to watch the news or read newspapers, but I have been very aweare of Sadam's hanging, and felt a deep sense of unease over the event. I feel that this could herald a great deal of unrest in the world. However , reading through your comments was reassuring that there is a growing movement for an alternative way.

I love your thorough understanding and brilliant explanation of the Shadow, both as contained in this issue and always, Colin.

I also loved reading Diana Butler Bass' discussion on the Amish, and many of the other postings.

I just want to bring into this discussion the element of childhood abuse that was perpetrated on Saddam by his father. I heard very little about it, but it was mentioned in one of his bio's by one network, and it sounded horrendous.

Then, of course, we know how it was perpetuated to the next generation as he severely abused his 2 sons - and we watched him turn them into sociopathic monsters, who tortured and murdered people (especially women) for recreation.

I love the idea of spiritual healing and understanding, but we need a world that stops soul- murdering its children with such horrendous disrespect to their physical and emotional bodies; and to see the direct link to creating adults who thus fulfill their evil missions to help heal the world of all our shadows.

It begins with the disrespect and belief of ownership by men (almost always) over women, children, animals and the Earth.

Alice Miller has so brilliantly enlightened us about how Hitler's abusive childhood led to his rise to power, hatred and murder--projecting his hatred of Jews that he learned from his father--including the fact that he was part (I believe 1/8) Jewish.I hope more is said about Saddam's abusive past so we can continue to see this pattern in portraits of mass murderers.

Dear Colin,

When I first read you did a forgiveness worksheet for Saddam, I wondered...why waste the time? Or maybe it was - I wished I had that kind of time, because I could think of many people in my life and in others that are worthy of forgiving and Saddam was the last person on my mind or even list to forgive. I realized then that I didn't need to forgive him.

Before reading your Post tonight,
I did look at a short video last night on his hanging. I have to admit I was nervous to what I may see and how it may make me feel. I felt that if there was anyone I could stomach seeing killed, it would be this man. I saw just that...he was just a man. Nothing special, just a human being, wearing a "human suit"-- a very thick one with a lot of strong beliefs and patterns. I don't know what he may have been saying, don't care either, but I could see (or I felt) he was still hiding his fear. Fear he may have carried, had been taught and lived with his entire life. A living hell. Under this "human suit", like under all of ours, was a spirit that I felt was anxious to be freed, sent home and review what it was that it learned about being this very violent, cold and evil man. I can only hope that this very same soul may someday come back to be the spirit of someone special that does great things and gives others much joy and peace in our world.

I guess when you believe that everything has its purpose or reason in life, even forgiving someone as cruel as Saddam Hussein is possible. I also think that when you see someone so stuck in their own world with such strong views, that its easier to see through them and feel compassion for their spirit that they and others seem to have forgotten. What makes it easy for me is looking beyond the "human suit" he wore and how it was "programmed" to believe and think the way he did. Hence, why his words mean little to me. With all the terrible things he did and how distructive he was outwardly, imagine what a mess his head was inwardly about others and even about himself. His spirit probably had no chance "in hell" of ever being heard by him much less, being seen. I bet his soul felt as tortured as the many men and women he killed. Maybe worse, since it was daily for many years. So, when I saw the video and saw this man, I guess I felt like I was watching a spirit be set free. Like a animal from a cage or a child running into a their mothers arms...I felt his spirit was going home and anxious to do so. I think his spirit will reward us for freeing him from that life. Ironic, how he was a man that Hated Americans because of our freedom-- and in the end, we freed his soul from all the hatred it encountered in living the life of such a evil man.

KARMA!!!

But then those are just my own...values and beliefs. :-)

Hmmmm,

Thank you for opening this dialogue.

From a distance all appears differently it would seem. One does not need to dig too deeply to find the parallels between ritual abuse in child hood and inter-generational commitment to separation and control agenda (The extended Bush family history is inextricably linked to both the banking and Nazi heritage as well as to active Satanic groups such as Skull and Bones). It takes a strong commitment to peace and unconditional love not to be caught up in this drama of awakening being played out for us. The New World Order and the agenda of those who have been so abused (by conscious intent) is an active and real aspect of our current co created reality. The dynamic pushes and pulls on our emotions are cleverly and clearly designed to perpetuate and maintain the separation; for how best to disempower an entire species but through hijacking the innate power of creativity. Our co-creations are powered through the emotional engagement of the heart. When we are moving from a feeling of love it empowers our co creations in a way like no other; so to create and deliver a daily diet of terror is the finest way to disempower a species. The heart of this (evil = anti live) BEAST has taken form and incarnated in the body of humanity; now we are gifted the time for exorcism.

Our daily decree/affirmation is of peace and abundance for all through healing of this dis-ease of separation and the rediscovery of the sacred heart and its divining powers.

We also decree that the American over soul be free from these forces of enslavement that have them so enmeshed in fear that they need to control and interfere with others sovereign destiny. We pray (this is very different to prey)for forgiveness of those in whose name (humanity; for the charges are, as they will be against the Bush cartel, "For CRIMES against humanity".) this action was undertaken.
